With New Year’s Eve landing on a Monday this year, there’s never been a better excuse to extend your Temecula weekend to enjoy New Year’s Eve wine tastings and one of our region’s special New Year's Eve events. Here’s what New Year’s Eve looks like in the Temecula Valley.
New Year’s Eve Grape Drop
Instead of a ball drop, in Old Town Temecula they drop an enormous cluster of grapes. One of the valley’s favorite annual New Year's Eve events, the Grape Drop literally goes down at the City Hall, a.k.a. Old Town Civic Center. The free all night party includes live music, food vendors, and activities for kids. And since they count down the grape drop for both east and west coast time zones, you may choose to celebrate the new year early, or late.
Perhaps the most unlikely thing to do for New Year's Eve in Southern California is outdoor ice skating. Every day from December 13 to January 6, Temecula’s Civic Center hosts an outdoor ice skating rink built special for the season. Regular hours go from 10am to 9:30pm, and 11pm on weekends, when it costs $12 to enter the rink, and $5 to rent skates. But for one night, December 31, special hours let you literally skate into the new year! From 10pm til 12:30am the cost will be $20, including skate rental. And you may still see the grape drop.
New Years Eve Bingo
The Pechanga Resort Casino offers a host of distinct New Year's Eve events in its many dance and performance venues, but the most rewarding and competitive will undoubtedly be New Year’s Eve Bingo, where one hundred thousand dollars in cash prizes will be at stake! It’s $75 to buy in, and tickets may be purchased in advance online, for play that starts at 8pm.
Raise Your Glass to NYE Bash!
One special New Year's Eve wine tasting starts around 8pm over at Wilson Creek Winery. It’s actually wine pairings prepared with dinner service, the winery’s ambiance accompanied by pleasant live music. After dinner, the DJ starts up, as does the late night dessert bar! Dancing and open bar will continue through the midnight countdown, for an all-inclusive cost of $150. Get your tickets before they sell out!
Winery New Year’s Eve Party & Balloon Drop
One of better New Year's Eve events hosted at Temecula wineries happens at South Coast Winery Resort & Spa. Live music and dancing are the hallmark for the $40 event, which runs from 9pm through midnight and includes small bites and culminating in a sparkling wine toast and balloon drop. You may add to the experience for $99 to include a prix fixe dinner at the Vineyard Rose Restaurant (not including drinks or gratuity), and make it a truly rewarding experience by booking a room at the South Coast resort.
Jeep & Wine Tours
Naturally, New Year's Eve in Temecula isn’t just about how you spend one night. Every day we offer jeep & wine tours of the Temecula Valley, delivering you in rugged style to our favorite of the region’s more than 40 wineries. Star your New Year's Eve wine tasting with a jeep & wine tour, or make it the first activity of 2019.
